Free Tracks

Free: Top

In case it wasn't painfully obvious, this site is all about music! And if you want some music that you can download, listen to and use right now, free of charge, you've come to the right place.

All of the music and sound effects in this section are free to use in non-commercial projects, be they freely-distributed games, YouTube videos, free hotdog giveaways, or whatever else you might be working on. Just be sure, if you do use my music, to give due credit to me (Toby Wilkinson/Snowy Fox/Toby "Snowy Fox" Wilkinson/whatever) and provide a link to this website (foxaudio.co.uk). Otherwise you'll make the Server Otter sad. You don't want to make the Server Otter sad, do you? Nobody likes to hear despondent dooking.

And, of course, if you enjoy computer game music, there's nothing wrong with just downloading it to listen to, either. Feel free to distribute and share the tracks in this section, too - preferably, again, with credit and a link to this site.

Dungeon

Threatening/remote

1.0 (23.09.20)

Another track for RMN Music Pack II. I felt I aught to make a sort of spiritual successor to the ever-popular Caverns from the first pack. Rather than deep caves, though, this time I sought to capture the image of a sweltering, fiery volcano, a barren, wind-blasted desert, or a high, rocky mountain passage. The sort of place where one must be on their guard for the dangerous monsters that lurk there, but also where one can find stark natural beauty.

Or you could just put it in another cave dungeon. Whatever works.~

Event

Restful/contemplative

1.0 (23.09.20)

After a long day's travel, interspersed with sudden combat with roving monsters, the party have reached safety and settle in for a good night's rest.

Perhaps "safety" means a moonlit city - perhaps a lonely but welcoming inn by the roadside - or perhaps merely a crackling campfire amidst the darkness of the open planes. Whatever form it takes, the heroes are afforded an opportunity to relax and to reflect upon their adventures, and perhaps to discuss what they should do next.

Or maybe this is the theme of a mysterious and beautiful wise woman, or of the plains themselves on a rainy day. It's up to you, of course, where this music winds up!

Tactical battle

Determined/triumphant

1.0 (23.09.20)

The enemy hordes have appeared - far too many for a small party of adventurers to take on alone. You'll have to gather your own troops and face them head-on on the field of battle!

This track was composed for RMN Music Pack II for - if it wasn't plainly obvious - a theoretical tactical battle scenario. For me, it conjures images of monstrous armies, carefully-deliberated movement, and little soldier characters walking on the spot.

It could also fit as event music as the characters deliberate their battle strategy, or as the theme of a happy-go-lucky mercenary leader.

City or castle

Grand/majestic

1.0 (22.09.20)

The first track I contributed to RMN Music Pack II. I really like the idea of floating castles in the skies of fantasy worlds, and love seeing different takes on this idea. I've wanted to compose a track inspired by that image for a long time. And here it is!

This track might also work well for a city amidst the clouds at the top of a mountain, or for the more terrestrial home of an ancient order of magi.

Minigame

Playful/competitive

1.2 (18.07.19)

Created for the Summoner of Sounds event over at RMN a few years ago, and now given a little more polish. The event involved a series of themes for composers to work to, and the theme in this case was minigames. This track was written with the image in mind of stopping in an inn for a friendly game of chance with a fellow vagabond, rolling dice, placing dominoes, or playing cards.

Of course, it would also fit well for the theme of the inn, the town it's in, or perhaps the gambler character himself. Or it might be used for story moments of playful levity.

Dungeon

Foreboding/mysterious

1.0 (01.12.15)

One of three tracks I created for the RMN Music Pack, and designed specifically for RPG Maker games. As its name quite heavily implies, it's meant as a theme for cave dungeons, though it could also work in other types of dungeons and situations, such as event music or a theme for a mysterious, possibly antagonistic character, for example.

Temple/religious event

Religious/mysterious

1.0 (02.12.15)

One of three tracks I created for the RMN Music Pack, and designed specifically for RPG Maker games. The track was actually requested by a member of the RMN community who wanted a theme for a temple area, with a slow, reverant pace and heavy emphasis on choir song - something conspicuously absent for RPG Maker's default music library.

Town

Cheerful/safe/homely

1.0 (02.12.15)

One of three tracks I created for the RMN Music Pack, and designed specifically for RPG Maker games. This track is written specifically as town music, though for some RPGs it might also work as an overworld theme or as event music, or as the theme for a particularly cheerful character (though the rambunctious brass in the middle and the mellow, calmer section towards the end might imply a lot of different sides to this character, so use with caution!).

While they will work with any game engine that supports MP3 and OGG files, the tracks offered on this page are optimised for use with Enterbrain's RPG Maker. Each "single track" actually includes several versions in different formats - the full-loop and full-length OGG versions contain comments that will tell your RPG Maker game where to play back from so that they will loop seamlessly. I'm yet to confirm how to make this work in other game engines, so by default, in other engines, they will play like any other audio file.
